About the Job
PetsWarehouse is looking for an experienced Coral Specialist to join our aquarium department. We are seeking someone with a strong knowledge of reef aquariums, coral care, and marine aquarium husbandry who can confidently care for our coral systems and help customers build and maintain successful reef tanks.

This is a hands-on position for someone who genuinely enjoys the reef hobby and has experience working with a variety of corals and saltwater systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and care for coral and reef aquarium systems.
  • Monitor and maintain proper water parameters, including salinity, pH, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, and phosphate.
  • Understand the specific care requirements of different coral species.
  • Identify signs of stress, disease, pests, or poor water quality in corals.
  • Properly acclimate, place, feed, and maintain corals.
  • Assist with coral fragging and propagation when needed.
  • Maintain clean, healthy, and visually appealing coral displays.
  • Perform regular water testing and aquarium maintenance.
  • Help maintain appropriate lighting, flow, filtration, and dosing for reef systems.
  • Educate customers on coral compatibility, placement, lighting, flow, feeding, and general reef care.
  • Recommend appropriate livestock, equipment, additives, and maintenance products based on customers' individual systems.
  • Assist with receiving, acclimating, and caring for new saltwater shipments.
  • Provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service.
  • Help maintain the overall aquarium department and livestock as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of reef aquariums and coral husbandry is required.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining a saltwater/reef aquarium.
  • Familiarity with testing and maintaining reef aquarium parameters.
  • Knowledge of a variety of LPS, SPS, soft corals, and zoanthids.
  • Understanding of coral lighting and flow requirements.
  • Ability to recognize common coral health issues and troubleshoot aquarium problems.
  • Comfortable performing aquarium maintenance and working with live animals.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
  • Previous aquarium store, reef shop, or professional aquatics experience is a plus.

The Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for someone who can talk about reef tanks because they actually keep them, not someone who has only general knowledge of aquariums.
